She cut hair for Akon and Ludacris while working as a barber.  With only one dollar in her bank account, she moved to Los Angeles in 2014 to pursue her dream of becoming a musician.

Bre-Z began her music career when she was 14 years old, with impromptu performances around Philadelphia.  Her brother used to rap, and she would sing his songs until she started writing her own. She met Freeway of the Roc-A-Fella Records rap group State Property when she was 15 years old. Freeway put her in a studio and helped her record her first song. Bre-Z first collaborated on songs with Dr. Dre, Jennifer Lopez, and The Game. When she was 24, she moved to Los Angeles to pursue her music career. In 2015, Bre-Z was cast in the role of Freda Gatz after landing an audition through a barbershop connection.  It was her first audition and her first time on stage.  Throughout her time on the show, she appeared on the soundtrack several times, sometimes performing her own raps.  She was the grand marshal of the Xavier University homecoming parade in November 2018.
